# Monster Hunter Rise Is on Mobile — Here's Everything That Matters
Yesterday, October 7, 2026, Monster Hunter Rise quietly became a mobile game. There was no big Capcom keynote and no trailer premiere — the game simply appeared on the Google Play Store and the App Store as a Netflix Games release. That's how Netflix tends to do things: a soft launch in a couple of regions first, then a wider rollout.
If you searched "Monster Hunter Rise mobile" this morning and found a confusing mix of store pages, forum threads, and sketchy-looking "free APK" sites, this guide is for you. Here's what's real, what it costs, where it works, and the one scam you need to avoid.
## The short version
- **Yes, there's an official mobile version.** It launched October 7, 2026, published by Netflix Games on Android and iOS. [Here's the full official answer](/posts/is-monster-hunter-rise-on-mobile).
- **It runs natively on your phone** — not cloud streaming — but you need an **active Netflix subscription** to play. [How the pricing actually works](/posts/is-rise-mobile-free).
- **Soft launch:** the store listings are live in the Philippines and Malaysia. In most other regions the listing shows "not available" for now. [Step-by-step download instructions](/posts/how-to-download-play-rise-mobile-netflix).
- **It's the base game, rebuilt for touch:** per-weapon touch controls, a new Recovery Button, and previously paid or time-limited quests now unlock through normal play. No Sunbreak expansion on mobile. [Everything that's new](/posts/whats-new-rise-mobile-version).
- **No official standalone APK exists.** Any site offering a free or modded "Rise mobile APK" is a scam. [How to spot the fake download sites](/posts/fake-apk-warning-rise-mobile).
## What "through Netflix Games" actually means
Netflix Games is Netflix's games catalog — titles included with a Netflix subscription, with no ads and no in-app purchases. Monster Hunter Rise on mobile follows that model: you install it from the official store listing, sign in with your Netflix account, and play. If you already pay for Netflix, the game costs you nothing extra. If you don't have Netflix, you'll need a subscription — the game doesn't have a standalone price.
The important technical detail: this is a **native port**, not a cloud-streamed version. The game runs on your phone's hardware, which is why it can do proper 4-player online multiplayer. It just happens to be published through Netflix.
## Where you can get it right now (and where you can't)
Netflix is famous for soft-launching games: release in one or two smaller markets, watch the servers and the crash reports, then expand. Monster Hunter Rise mobile is in that phase. As of today, October 8, 2026, the listings are confirmed live in the **Philippines** and **Malaysia**. Everywhere else — including the US, Europe, and most of Asia — the store page either doesn't appear or says the item isn't available in your country.
That "not available" message is normal for a soft launch and doesn't mean anything is wrong with your phone or account. What you should **not** do is go hunting for the game on third-party APK sites to get around the region lock — that's exactly how the fake-APK scams operate. The patient move is to wait for the wider rollout, which is how every Netflix soft launch has gone so far.
## What changed in the mobile version
This isn't a lazy port. The mobile version was reworked in a few specific ways:
**Touch controls, rebuilt per weapon.** Rise has 14 weapon types and they all play differently, so the touch layout was rebuilt for each weapon rather than slapping on generic virtual buttons.
**The Recovery Button.** New to the mobile version: a button that automatically picks your best healing item in the middle of a fight. Anyone who's fumbled through an item wheel while a Rathalos is charging understands why this exists.
**Quests that used to cost extra are now free.** Challenge Quests and Event Quests that were paid or time-limited on other platforms unlock through normal progression on mobile.
**What you don't get:** the Sunbreak expansion isn't on mobile — it's the base Rise game. Multiplayer supports 4-player online co-op; cross-play with console or PC hasn't been mentioned.
## Why this is happening now
The timing isn't a coincidence. On October 6, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise has passed **20 million copies sold**, making it the third best-selling Capcom game of all time. A 20-million-seller getting a mobile version through Netflix the next day is about as mainstream as this series has ever gone. The 20M news is what's driving the wave of "is it on mobile" searches right now.
## What we know vs. what we don't know yet
**Known:** official Netflix Games release, October 7, 2026, Android + iOS, native (not streamed), requires Netflix subscription, live in Philippines and Malaysia, per-weapon touch controls, Recovery Button, Challenge and Event Quests unlock through play, base game only (no Sunbreak), 4-player online multiplayer.
**Not announced yet:** the global rollout date, whether cross-play with other platforms will ever come, and any word on Sunbreak arriving later. Neither Netflix nor Capcom has put out a formal announcement — the launch was discovered through the store listings, which is typical for Netflix soft launches. We'll update this guide as those answers arrive.
## The scam warning — read this before you download anything
Because the launch is region-limited, scammers are already out in force. Here's the one rule: **there is no official standalone "Monster Hunter Rise APK."** The only legitimate mobile version is the Netflix-published listing on the Google Play Store or the App Store, installed while signed into Netflix.
Any website offering a free download, a modded version, or an "unlocked" APK of Monster Hunter Rise mobile is distributing malware or phishing for your accounts. This is the oldest trick in mobile gaming, and a soft launch is prime hunting season for it. Our [download page](/download) links only to the official listings — nothing else, ever.

The scam sites are already everywhere. Found three different 'Rise mobile mod APK' pages within an hour of the launch news. All of them wanted me to install some 'verifier' app first. Thanks for spelling out what the real listing looks like.

The package name check is the real tip. com.netflix.NGP.MonsterHunterRise — if what you downloaded didn't come from the Play Store with Netflix as the publisher, delete it and change your passwords.

The Recovery Button is such a small thing but it changes everything. Years of Monster Hunter and I never thought I'd say this, but one-tap healing mid-fight feels right on a phone.
Finally! I've been checking the Play Store since last night. Downloading now in Manila — took about 20 minutes on WiFi. The Netflix sign-in popped up right after the title screen, exactly like the guide says.
